Vivek Kumar, with around 13 years of experience, serves as a Director with us. He excels in providing strategic advisory services to Central and State PSUs, Regulatory Commissions, and private sector clients. His expertise encompasses power market dynamics, regulatory compliance, policy formulation, and commercial strategies. Vivek’s advanced skills in financial modeling and strategic planning are pivotal in helping clients tackle complex challenges and enhance operational efficiencies.
Vivek is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (IIM-R), where he earned an MBA in Strategy and Finance. He also holds a B.E. (Honors) in Electronics & Communication from the Institute of Technology and Management, Gurgaon.
In his professional journey, Vivek has demonstrated exceptional capabilities in strategic planning and execution, specializing in energy strategies for thermal generation and green energy. He has a strong track record in managing regulatory portfolios, defending tariff petitions, and conducting financial modeling and due diligence. Additionally, Vivek is adept at policy advocacy, collaborating with ministries and regulatory bodies to align initiatives with evolving frameworks.
Prior to his role at Mercados, Vivek was a Deputy General Manager at Adani Group, where he collaborated with senior executives on strategic initiatives across thermal power, renewables, coal, storage, and power markets. At Tata Group, he managed regulatory portfolios for thermal and renewable plants, ensuring compliance with PPAs and securing favorable outcomes from CERC and SERCs, significantly contributing to Tata Power’s financial stability.
Since joining Mercados, Vivek has been instrumental in developing and implementing the company’s overall strategy and vision. He collaborates closely with other senior executives to identify growth opportunities and develop new service offerings, ensuring high-quality deliverables to clients and contributing to the firm’s business development and strategic direction.
