The anticipation crackles in the air. On January 22nd, Ayodhya’s heart will beat anew as the Ram Temple awakens in a grand ceremony of Pran Pratishtha. But amidst the celestial glow and devotional fervor, a quieter story stirs beneath the city’s sacred earth.
Imagine, if you will, a bustling tapestry of faith and history. This was Ayodhya, its cobbled streets whispering tales of Shri Ram’s sojourn, yet burdened by a tangled crown of overhead wires. It was a beauty yearning for a transformation, a whisper echoing in the hearts of devotees and our political and bureaucratic leadership alike.
And so, a monumental plan was born at Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (MVVNL) – to liberate Ayodhya from the web of wires, to pave its path towards a luminous future.
Towards this end, MVVNL asked the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), a government training institution under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, to make it possible. Considering the significance of this project, NPTI trusted none other than Mercados Energy Markets India (MEMI) to execute it. Drawing upon its vast experience and unwavering commitment, MEMI delved into this monumental undertaking.
But this was not just another project for the Mercados family. In fact, it was considered a divine duty by each MEMIber of this relatively small but super effective organisation.
Building the Blueprint for Brilliance
The journey began with crafting the intricate tapestry of the project – the Detailed Project Report (DPR). This meticulous document mapped the city’s existing infrastructure, charted the course for underground cables, and envisaged a future powered by efficiency and reliability.
From Vision to Reality
With laser focus, MEMI navigated the intricate landscape of the city, conducting detailed surveys, identifying challenges, and proposing ingenious solutions. Right-of-way issues were tackled head-on, ensuring seamless integration with the city’s fabric. Load analysis ensured a robust system capable of meeting Ayodhya’s growing needs, even as it embraces its destiny as a burgeoning spiritual and cultural center.
Innovation Illuminates the Path
But MEMI went beyond mere functionality. It understood the unique character of Ayodhya, a city where faith and heritage intertwine. Recognizing the need for space in the ancient quarters, they designed innovative pillars that blended seamlessly with the historical architecture.

Today, as Ayodhya shines resplendent in the glow of its newfound radiance, MEMI’s contribution stands as evidence of its commitment and dedication. The seamless flow of electricity through subterranean arteries whispers a silent tale of the MEMIbers of Mercados family, the invisible heroes, who toiled tirelessly to pave the way for a brighter future.
With a project worth Rs 240 crore funded by PFC, MEMI has not only illuminated Ayodhya’s streets but also its aspirations.
